KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Assembly MPA Jam Owais, who is accused of torturing Nazim Jokhio to death, has surrendered himself to Malir Police.
MPA Sindh Assembly Jam Owaid was nominated in case FIR no 457/21 of Memon Goth Police Station. SSP Malir has confirmed that Jam Owais has been taken into custody. Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah had taken notice of the protests and had directed the police to get the FIR registered as desired by Nazim’s family.
Nazim Jokhio was found tortured to death inside a farmhouse in Malir which belonged to the PPP lawmaker. The family of the deceased Nazim Jokhio had been staging protests in Thatta and Karachi against the murder.
His family held a protest demonstration against his murder on the National Highway on Thursday. They blocked the highway by placing the victim’s body, suspending all kinds of vehicular movement and demanded that those responsible for Jokhio’s murder be brought to justice.
Sindh ministers Saeed Ghani and Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh met the protestors and assured them that their demands will be fulfilled after which they called off the protests.
Nazim Jokhio was allegedly killed by influential personalities after he recorded a video of their foreign guests hunting the endangered houbara bustard in his native village. The tortured body of Jokhio was found at Jam House, owned by PPP MPA Jam Awais.
Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah took notice of the matter and directed the police to lodge an FIR on the complaint of the bereaved family. Malir’s Memon Goth police lodged the case on behalf of Afzal Jokhio against PPP’s provincial lawmaker Jam Awais and his accomplices.
