Former federal law minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has claimed that after the Supreme Court’s observation, former premier Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification has ended.
The PML-N senator was responding to the verdict in the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act case.
Reacting to the implications of the order on the political future of Nawaz Sharif, he said that after amendment to the Elections Act, the appeal under the Practice and Procedure law was not so important.
After the amendment to the Elections Act, the issue has not been challenged yet, and stands enforced, he added. He further said Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification ended after the observation of the Supreme Court.
“Nawaz Sharif is now eligible after the amendment to the Elections Act regarding disqualification,” the former law minister remarked.
On his return, cases related to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will be seen on merit, Tarar maintained.
Earlier, talking about the Supreme Court verdict of Wednesday, he said he was happy that the law made by parliament has been encouraged. “The Supreme Court has upheld this law,” he added.
