KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday received Pakistan’s new Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi at CM House.
The chief minister felicitated the naval chief on assuming his position. He said that it was a matter of immense pride that the naval chief hailed from Sanghar district of Sindh.
CM Sindh stressed on the need to improve the educational system in the province, adding that children of fishermen should also be given an opportunity to serve in the navy. He said the fishermen have a deep connection with the sea but have been deprived from serving in the navy.
He said that that Admiral Niazi reaching the top position in the Navy will serve as an inspiration for youth. He presented a shield and a token of appreciation for the visiting naval chief.
Last Tuesday, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi called on Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar and discussed professional matters of the Pakistan Navy during a meeting at the Governor’s House.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and professional activities of the Pakistan Navy were discussed. Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar congratulated him on assuming office and said that Pakistan Navy had the best professional skills and the world appreciates the performance of the navy in protecting maritime borders.
On October 7, Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi assumed command as the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) during a change of command ceremony held at PNS Zafar in Islamabad.
Commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1985, Admiral Niazi undertook initial training at Pakistan Naval Academy. He was awarded a gold medal by chairman joint chiefs of staff committee (CJCSC) along with the Sword of Honour in recognition of his performance.
On October 16, President Dr Arif Alvi conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz upon Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi during a ceremony held at Aiwan-i-Sadr. The military award was conferred upon the naval chief in recognition of his performance and selfless devotion towards maritime defence of the country.
