People of all ages like biryani. The rice dish from the subcontinent is currently made in many ways using innovative cooking techniques. Nalli biryani has gained popularity after being launched by a local restaurant in Karachi.
There is a DBC Nalli Biryani Center in Shah Faisal Colony Karachi where beef biryani is sold for Rs.100 per 250 gram.
In order to learn more about this distinctive Karachi delicacy, MM News traveled to Shah Faisal Colony and spoke with the proprietor of the DBC Neli Biryani Center, who clarified that DBC stands for Dastagir Biryani Center.
“We have started a new trend in Shah Faisal Colony.” The proprietor said.
He said that Hyderabadi Yakhni Pulau (Pilaf) is quite popular here, adding that his outlet uses the meat of their own animals. “Every day we slaughter animals right here, so our customers can have no qualms.”
“It is not easy to collect so many Nallis (tubes) as one animal does not have so many of them,” he said “We have to collect Nallis from various places.”
Talking about charging just Rs100 per plate, he said that low price enables the lower class and poor people to buy his product; however, he insisted that they maintained the quality of the food.
“Our biryani is not very spicy,” he said “We use normal ingredients with quality cooking oil and calf meat.”
He said that 250 grams biryani costs Rs100 and adding a Nalli to the dish costs another Rs100.
“We operate from evening till 3:30 in the morning in Ramadan, however, in normal days the biryani is available from 9am till 11PM,” he concluded.
