ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has planned to seek cancellation of former president Asif Ali Zardari’s post-arrest bail through the Supreme Court in the money laundering case.
In this regard, the NAB Rawalpindi would file an application in the Supreme Court after getting it approved by the bureau’s prosecutor general.
Asif Ali Zardari was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court in the fake accounts and money laundering case in December last year on medical grounds.
The money laundering case refers to the embezzlement of Rs4.4 billion. NAB has accused Zardari and Talpur of owning shares of the Zardari Group, a company that received some of the embezzled funds.
The Park Lane reference has been registered against Zardari and Talpur under different sections of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, and the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010.
