The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Islamabad/Rawalpindi has officially begun integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its investigative framework in collaboration with the National Centre of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), marking a significant shift in Pakistan’s approach to tackling financial crimes.
According to NAB officials, the move is aimed at enhancing the bureau’s capability to handle major and complex financial crime cases, particularly those involving intricate money trails and sophisticated concealment methods.
With AI-powered tools, investigators can now trace banking records, analyze financial transactions, and uncover hidden links between entities at a level of speed and precision not previously possible.
“Investigators are now able to identify concealed financial connections and suspicious transactions with unprecedented speed and accuracy,” an official confirmed.
The collaboration involves the development of AI-based investigative modules tailored specifically for NAB’s operations, along with continuous technical assistance to keep the bureau aligned with global investigative standards.
Dr. Ayaz, Chairman of NCAI, lauded NAB’s forward-looking approach and committed full support to help NAB evolve into Pakistan’s most technologically advanced accountability institution.
The introduction of AI into accountability work is seen as a milestone in modernizing Pakistan’s anti-corruption efforts, with expectations that it will significantly improve detection and prosecution in high-profile corruption and financial fraud cases.
