At least three police officers were suspended from their positions on Saturday due to their apparent negligence in the Mustafa murder investigation.
According to police reports, Amir, a resident of Karachi, was reported missing on January 6. His charred remains were subsequently discovered in a vehicle in Balochistan, as stated by officials during a press conference on Friday.
The police further revealed that they became aware of the death following a startling confession made by a suspect during the ongoing investigation.
As the investigation progressed, authorities indicated on Saturday that the circumstances surrounding the missing person’s death stemmed from a dispute related to a female individual.
The officers suspended include Darakhshan Police Station’s Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Rasheed Pathan, Investigation Officer Zulfiqar, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Iftikhar Ali, who were deemed negligent and incompetent in handling the case of Mustafa Amir, who was reportedly kidnapped and murdered.
Inspector Iftikhar Arain from the Sahil Police Station has been appointed to temporarily oversee the duties of the Darakhshan SHO.
Earlier that day, an anti-terrorism court in Karachi ordered the remand of a suspect into police custody until February 21.
