Authorities have collected 12 samples from the suspected remains of Karachi’s Mustafa Amir, who was abducted and later killed and burnt, for forensic analysis.
A three-member medical board, on the orders of the court, conducted the exhumation of Mustafa Amir’s body on Friday as part of the police investigation into the murder case.
The medical board consisted of Dr. Summaiya Syed, Dr Seri Chand, and Dr Kamran Khan, according to a notification.
According to investigative sources, DNA samples have been obtained from the suspected remains for forensic analysis in the presence of the judicial magistrate of the West. Samples were specifically collected from the teeth for DNA testing.
The exhumed remains have been sent to the morgue until the identification process is completed. If confirmed to be Mustafa Amir’s, they will be handed over to his parents, sources said.
Investigators revealed that the body had shrunk due to burning, but denied reports claiming it was missing hands, feet, and head.
A total of 12 samples were collected from the remains and sent to Karachi University’s forensic laboratory for testing.
