In the case of the abduction and murder of Mustafa Amir, the SIO and SHO of the Darakhshan police station have been formally suspended in an apparent attempt to absolve senior police officers of responsibility.
According to a report by Geo News on Sunday, Mustafa Amir was disappeared on January 6, 2025, the Darakhshan police registered a case on January 7 at the request of Mustafa Amir’s mother. Subsequently, the lack of seriousness displayed by investigative authorities during the investigation of the abduction case has raised questions about the role of senior police officers.
The report states that the Sindh police have limited their actions to suspending the SHO and SIO of the Darakhshan police station while protecting senior officers. In this regard, when a questionnaire was sent to the Director of Press CPO Syed Saad Ali to ascertain the stance of the IG Sindh, he expressed displeasure, deeming it a district-level issue.
DIG South Syed Asad Raza has suspended three officers, including the SHO of Darakhshan and the Investigation Officer of Darakhshan. The SHO of Darakhshan, Agha Abdul Rasheed Pathan, SIO Darakhshan Zulfiqar, and Investigation ASI Iftikhar Ali have been suspended, and departmental action has been ordered against them.
According to DIG South, the three officers were suspended for their sluggishness and negligence in the case of the young man Mustafa Amir, who was abducted and subsequently murdered.
Earlier, the accused Shiraz stated regarding the accused Armaghan that he called Shiraz to his house under the pretext of a meeting, after which Armaghan took him to his home and tortured Mustafa with an iron rod for three hours. Both reached Kemari to Hub in Mustafa’s vehicle.
