With the arrival of Eidul Adha in Morocco, King Mohammed VI has again appealed to the public not to sacrifice cattle this year.
Moroccan Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahmed El-Tawfiq issued a special message from King Mohammed VI through official media, telling the people that the ongoing economic and climatic crisis in the country has led to a severe decrease in the number of livestock, which has put livestock breeding at risk.
The statement said that in the current circumstances, the public, especially the salaried class, will be severely affected by the sacrifice of livestock, so the Sunnah of sacrifice should not be performed this year.
The Moroccan King added that the act of sacrifice is a Sunnah, but due to the social, economic and climatic problems facing the country, religion makes concessions to the public.
The king also announced the sacrifice of two sheep on behalf of the entire public.
On the other hand, after the king’s appeal, sacrificial animals disappeared from livestock markets in the country. Videos have gone viral on social media in which alleged government officials are seen confiscating sheep from people’s homes.
