Eminent religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has condemned the recent U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and questioned Pakistan’s decision to nominate former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
In a post on the social media platform X, Mufti Usmani strongly denounced the attack, writing: “The U.S. attack on Iran is highly condemnable and a clear violation of previous commitments.”
He further asked, “Can a person who threatens to turn other countries into hell truly deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?”
It is worth noting that the Government of Pakistan has decided to recommend Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his “decisive diplomatic intervention” during the recent Pakistan-India crisis. A letter of recommendation has reportedly been sent to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
According to media reports, the recommendation was submitted under the signature of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
