KARACHI: Senior Deputy Convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Amir Khan has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The MQM leader has quarantined himself at his residence after being diagnosed with the COVID-19. The party has appealed to masses and activists to pray for his recovery.
The second wave of the COVID-19 has infected several people belonging to various walks of life including politicians, journalists, judges, and others. Several members of the MQM-P have also been affected by the virus. Former Deputy Convener Farooq Sattar had also tested positive for the virus but went on to make a full recovery.

On November 30, MQM leader and former provincial minister Sindh Muhammad Adil Siddiqui died due to complications caused by the novel coronavirus.
Adil Siddiqui had arrived in Islamabad earlier that month and was admitted to the hospital after contracting coronavirus. The politician was on a ventilator at a private hospital in Karachi where he was pronounced dead by the medical team.
A spokesperson of the hospital said he died due to the coronavirus and was suffering from a lung-related illness. The MQM leader had recently returned after spending over six years abroad
