KARACHI: The brother and nephew of PTI MPA Asalam were shot dead on Wednesday after armed men opened fire on their vehicle in Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
Gunmen opened fire on their vehicle near Ayesha Masjid which was coming from their house in Khayaban-e-Shamsheer, police said.
MPA Aslam Abro was not in the vehicle when the incident occurred.
The injured were shifted to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Akram Abro and his son Shehryar Abro died in the firing, hospital sources said.
Four others were also injured in the incident. They were identified as Abdullah, Arshad Ali and Umar and are receiving treatment at Jinnah Hospital.
SP Investigation South said heavy weapons and 9mm pistols were used in the incident. The gunmen fired at least 50 rounds on the vehicle.
Police said the statements of eyewitnesses will be taken. Police senior command is in touch with MPA Aslam Abro and his family.
Police said there were five people in the vehicle. The suspects came on a motorcycle and open fired and fled from the scene.
