Motorways, trains, and flights are severely affected as visibility in Punjab and Sindh has been drastically reduced due to smog and fog, resulting in a tragic accident in which one person died and six others were injured.
According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway is closed due to fog and smog. The M-2 motorway from Lahore to Kot Momin, M-3 from Lahore to Dera Khana, and M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakeem are also closed due to weather conditions. Additionally, the M-5 motorway from Multan to Sukkur has been shut down.
Meanwhile, in areas like Pindi Bhattian and Kasur, traffic accidents occurred due to low visibility, resulting in one fatality and six injuries.
The intensity of the fog and smog in the plains has also severely disrupted train and flight schedules, particularly at Lahore Airport. Railway authorities report delays of several hours for trains arriving and departing from Lahore, Karachi, and other cities. Over ten domestic and international flights have also been delayed.
This situation has caused significant inconvenience for travelers, making it difficult for them to reach their destinations on time. Railway authorities have advised the public to check the latest train and flight information before traveling.
