Pakistan is preparing to launch air ambulance services along all motorways and national highways nationwide, a move aimed at improving emergency medical response for road accident victims.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced the initiative on Monday, saying that the primary objective is to ensure immediate medical assistance for those injured in traffic accidents.
He highlighted the alarming mortality rate associated with road accidents and stressed that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure timely transportation of the injured to nearby medical facilities.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb addressed the National Assembly on Thursday, reaffirming the government’s commitment to completing the Sukkur-Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway. He described the project as vital for enhancing Pakistan’s economic connectivity and pledged that it would be completed at all costs.
Responding to concerns raised by lawmakers, the finance minister confirmed that the project has been prioritized.
He said that funding would be secured either through foreign assistance or the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). Aurangzeb also mentioned that the federal budget is currently being finalized, and the Minister for Planning would be briefed on the project’s importance to ensure adequate budgetary allocations are made.
