ISLAMABAD: More than 100 contractors of Motorway’s section-4 on Monday staged a sit-in against Chinese Company for non-payment of theirs dues.
Talking to MM News, the protesting contractors said that they had completed construction of Kabeerwala to Khanewal section of the motorway on time after signing a contract with Chinese Company Boxion in 2018, but so far they have not been given their dues.
The contractors said that they have over Rs400 million dues outstanding against the company. “Time and again we requested the company for payment, but it uses delay tactics, while we have to pay the amount of construction material,” they added.
“Today we were told that the owner has returned to China and when he will come then the matter would be discussed, while it was also told that National Highway Authority (NHA) has not paid to the company yet,” they added.
The contractors said that when they contacted the NHA officials they said that the Chinese Company had been fully paid in 2018 soon after completion of work. The protestors warned that they would keep continue the sit-in until payment of their dues.
They demanded the government to resolve the issue on priority basis and warned that government and city administration would be responsible for any untoward situation.
