Motorola has unveiled its inaugural AI-capable smartphone, the Edge 50 Pro. Branded as the world’s premier Pantone-validated smartphone camera, the Edge 50 Pro introduces several pioneering features, notably an AI-driven professional-grade camera and a Pantone SkinTone-certified display.
Features and design
The centerpiece of the Edge 50 Pro is its curved 6.7-inch pOLED display, boasting a resolution of 1220p and a refresh rate of 144Hz. This panel dazzles with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, marking it as the pioneer smartphone to receive Pantone’s validation for colors, ensuring precise representation of real-world colors and skin tones. Additionally, the display integrates a 50MP front-facing camera equipped with autofocus and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
On the rear, users are greeted with a 50MP main camera boasting an f/1.4 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), accompanied by a 10MP telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom and a 13MP ultrawide lens, which doubles as a macro camera. Notably, the Edge 50 Pro introduces Motorola’s inaugural AI Photo Enhancement Engine, delivering optimizations for motion capture and color segmentation.

On the software front, the Edge 50 Pro runs on Motorola’s latest Hello UI interface, based on Android 14, incorporating generative AI capabilities for customizable wallpapers. Additionally, it debuts Motorola Smart Connect, a suite of continuity features spanning smartphones, tablets, and PCs from Motorola and Lenovo, with support for external displays and data synchronization. Motorola pledges 3 years of Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches.
Powering the device is a robust 4,500 mAh battery, complemented by 125W wired charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities, all enclosed within an IP68-rated chassis.
Available in three distinct color options—Moon Light Pearl with an acetate finish, Luxe Lavender, and Black Beauty with a silicone vegan leather finish—the Edge 50 Pro weighs 186 grams, with the Moon Light Pearl variant featuring a handmade design crafted in Italy by Mazzucchelli 1849.
