Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Amara Athar, has announced that strict measures will be enforced against motorcyclists who ride without a valid driving license. Under the new rules, individuals caught riding without a license will face a fine and have their motorcycles impounded until they present a valid license.
According to CTO Lahore, the fine for riding without a license will be Rs 2,000. Motorcycles will only be returned once the rider shows a valid license. Additionally, CTO Athar revealed that the fee to obtain a motorcycle license is Rs930. The previous 42-day validity period for learner permits has been removed, meaning riders must now have a full license to operate a motorcycle.
To assist the public, ten new driving license testing centers have been set up in Lahore. So far this year, more than 500,000 citizens have used the traffic department’s licensing services.
This initiative is part of a larger effort to enhance road safety and ensure adherence to traffic regulations in Lahore.
