Mother’s Day: History
It is believed that Mother’s Day was first celebrated in the US. A woman named Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother because her mother expressed a desire and had asked her to hold a memorial after her death. Thus, three years after her mother’s death on May 10, 1908, Jarvis held a memorial ceremony to honour her mother and all mothers at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church.
Why it is important to celebrate Mother’s Day?
It is important to celebrate Mother’s Day to thank mother for everything she does for her child without any selfishness and show her unconditional love and affection. A mother is a child’s first friend with whom he or she shares all of their joys, sorrows, emotions and happiness. Thus it is important to celebrate Mother’s Day to make your mom feel special.
The role of the mother in Islam
As we know, Islam has empowered women more than any other religion and they have more rights than any man. A woman has a very key role when she becomes a mother. Since the mothers have a very valued and dignified role in Islam.
Their contribution is acknowledged and applauded. Once a man asked Prophet (PBUH) about the status of the mother, Muhammad (SAW) replied, “Paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers.”
The real message of International Mother’s Day
While many countries around the world remain in lockdown due to the COVID-19 epidemic, it has put limitations on the ways in which we can make this day special for the wonderful women in our lives.
A mother-child shares a bond that knows no boundaries. She stands by her child’s side no matter what the situation is. It is impossible to repay for all the sacrifices a mother does for her child. We can only acknowledge and admire her for everything she has done for us.
On the occasion, we must take some time out of our busy schedules and reflect on the fact. Almost every helpless and old woman in the world is the mother of someone. Every mother should be valued as her/his own mother and support those who need help.
