DERA ISMAIL KHAN: In a significant achievement, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have claimed to have killed one of the most wanted terrorists of Al Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Khyara group, Iqbal alias Bali Khyara, in a police encounter in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to reports made available to MM News, the encounter took place after the intelligence agencies tipped off the authorities about the presence of the notorious terrorist and his accomplices in the Fateh Mor area.
The timely and effective action of the police resulted in the killing of Iqbal Khyara and his associates. The terrorist was wanted in 26 cases of terrorism, target killing, kidnapping of policemen, and people belonging to different sects for ransom. The KP and Punjab police had announced a reward of 1 crore 5 lakh rupees for the arrest, dead or alive, of Iqbal Khyara, who had been evading the law enforcement agencies for a long time.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Dera Ismail Khan police had been after Iqbal Khyara in 21 cases of terrorism, while the Multan Police had also registered five cases against him. The terrorist had been involved in heinous crimes and had been a source of terror for the people of the area.
