ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noorul Haq Qadri has announced that mosques across Pakistan will stay open during Ramazan with strict adherence to COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“As per the foundations of Islamic society, we as a nation should exhibit discipline, coherence and national uniformity as we continue our battle against the coronavirus,” he said while addressing a ceremony today (Tuesday).
The Religious Minister also advised the people of Pakistan to take necessary precautions while performing their religious obligations. “Administration can help us in enforcing the decided SOPs but it is the job of citizens to ensure that all precautionary measures are fully implemented,” he affirmed.
Responding to a question, the minister said preparations for Hajj will be completed in light of directions from the Saudi Arabia government. “The government is waiting for the consent of the Saudi government to ink a Hajj agreement,” he added.
Pakistan has recorded a steep rise in COVID-19 infections and mortalities as 100 more patients have died of coronavirus during the past 24 hours and 4,084 new cases were recorded.
According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the coronavirus has claimed 100 more lives across the country as the overall death toll reaches 14,356.
The total number of cases recorded in the country ever since the pandemic began has crossed reached 663200, while the positivity rate stood at 8.82 percent. The total count of active cases was recorded at 48,566.
