KARACHI: The father of a medical student who was recently killed while resisting a robbery has identified the alleged shooter of his daughter.
The suspect in the murder case of 24-year-old Misbah was identified during the hearing of the case in the court of Judicial Magistrate East.
The police of district East, acting on an intelligence report, had claimed to have arrested two criminals near Al-Azam square. Police said one of the suspects was involved in the murder of Misbah.
SSP East Zafar Mehshar said that the arrested suspect Ghulam Muhammad Nabi was an Afghan street criminal, whose partner Qari Basheer Afghani was still at large.
According to the police, Misbah was waiting for her university bus near Mochi Mor when two suspects arrived on a motorcycle while another shot her dead as she offered resistance during the robbery.

Misbah was shot dead on 3rd October during an incident of suspected mugging in Karachi.The victim identified as a third-year student at Hamdard University.
She was sitting with her father in their car while waiting for her university’s point bus near Mochi Mor in Gulshan-i-Iqbal area when two robbers on a motorcycle approached them.
According to the victim’s uncle, the robbers mugged the girl’s father at gunpoint. Then they moved to the other side of the car and opened fire hitting Misbah near her eye.
The robbers did not take anything away from Misbah and only mugged her father. The robber then fled the scene towards Sohrab Goth. The family resides in Abid Town.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Amir Farooqi said it was that the incident obviously a case of robbery. He claimed that the girl was not shot for resisting the robbery, but rather one of the robbers dropped his gun then opened fire in a state of panic.
