RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police allegedly backed the accused person involved in a rape case of a minor girl, according to sources.
According to details, the 12-year-old girl – Iqra Fatima – was gang-raped within the limits of Rawat police station, Rawalpindi. Sources have claimed that a PTI minister from Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is allegedly involved in the case.
Sources further claimed that a resident of Hangu, Rafaqat Khan, is one of the accused in the gang-rape case. In this regard, Hangu’s minister is pressuring RPO Rawalpindi and CPO Rawalpindi to halt the investigation. RPO Rawalpindi also belongs to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sources have also claimed that the police have been clearly instructed not to allow media to cover the case during the court appearance.
According to sources, the police have allegedly received an exorbitant bribe for the case. Both the accused were produced before court today after completing their 10-day physical remand.
Police, on the other hand, are claiming that the girl is an adult woman. Meanwhile, the girl’s lawyer has demanded a medical examination in order to determine her age.
