RAWALPINDI: A minor girl belonging to the Christian community has allegedly been abducted and held in servitude since several weeks.
Fatima Masih is the daughter of Anwar Masih, a resident of Street No 11 in Gulraiz Colony with the limits of the Airport police station. The 12-year-old was allegedly abducted on May 6 by a resident of Jhang named Amjad along with his brothers, sister and mother.
The abducted girl’s parents told MM News that Punjab Police have failed to register a case or hear their complaint. The victim’s father said that he has been regularly visiting the police station since the day his daughter was abducted but the police refuse to even file a complaint.
Police sprang to action after a case was registered on Sunday May 24. However, the suspect’s family has started threatening the victim’s family to withdraw the case. The police rather than investigating the case have also started pressuring the abducted girl’s family.
The girl’s father alleged that the main accused Amjad, along with his accomplices Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Imran, his sister Asiya and mother Faraza abducted his daughter. They were assisted by Fazal Hussain s/o Ameer Hamza and Mazhar Iqbal s/o Noor Muhammad.
Anwar Masih said their rights were being trampled because they belong to a minority community. He said young girls were being abducted from their community by influential individuals and were being threatened and forced to provide sexual services.
He said that Punjab Police was treating them like the Indian occupation forces in Kashmir. He said the police was threatening them that their daughter has now converted to Islam and they should withdraw the case.
He further said the suspects who abducted his daughter were highly influential and run a sex trafficking racketing involving minor girls who are sold into prostitution. He said the suspects are refusing to hand over his daughter and implicating them in false cases.
He appealed to the prime minister, army chief, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and IGP Punjab to recover his abducted daughter and provide an exemplary punishment to the suspects.
