KARACHI: A young boy, affected by the recent floods, was kidnapped, raped, and murdered within the jurisdiction of the Steel Town police station in Karachi.
According to Dawn, the police discovered the body of the child, approximately eight years old, in bushes near the ‘Tent City’ established for flood victims along Link Road. The body was transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal procedures.
Steel Town SHO Ghulam Husain Pirzada, citing doctors, reported that the boy was killed by a hard and blunt object that struck his head. The doctors also confirmed that the boy had been sexually assaulted before being murdered.
The officer mentioned that the boy came from a flood-affected family. He left his home in Tent City on June 11 to sell chips but did not return home that night. His mother reported him missing to the Steel Town police station the following day.
In a similar incident in May, a 12-year-old boy who had been kidnapped was found dead after being sexually assaulted near Manghopir. Based on information provided by the suspects, a close relative and another individual were arrested by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). AVCC SSP Zafar Siddique Chaanga stated that these arrests led to the recovery of the boy’s body from the bushes in Manghopir.
