KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted torrential rains for Karachi on August 3.
“Strong monsoon winds may affect Sindh, including Karachi, from the Arabian Sea starting August 2 (Friday),” the weather department reported. The third phase of intense monsoon rains is expected to continue in the city until August 7, according to the PMD.
The provincial capital is expected to experience temperatures ranging from 31 to 33 degrees Celsius. The Met office predicts rainfall of 40–60 mm in some parts of Karachi and up to 100 mm in others. Flooding is a potential issue in Sindh’s low-lying areas, including Karachi.
The PMD has issued a warning that strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms could damage solar panels and fragile structures.
Meanwhile, Karachi has already been experiencing light to moderate rains for almost two days, with some areas receiving heavy showers. Last night, light showers were reported in areas such as Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, Baldia Town, Defence, and North Karachi.
