Pakistani star Mehwish Hayat features as the mobster’s girl in Indian singer Yo Yo Honey Singh’s new music video.
The song “Jatt Mekhma” was released on Friday and went viral within just five hours, reaching 1.1 million views.
In the video, Hayat channels a mobster-inspired Audrey Hepburn, dressed in an all-black getup, layered pearl necklace, and some stylish updo. Singh matches her look by being draped in a heavy fur coat over a sharp pinstriped suit that amplifies the film-noir aesthetic of the situation.
Singh, who penned and directed the video, stages a scene where Hayat and Singh arrive at an extravagant mansion, surrounded by other mobster-styled actors.
This much-awaited collaboration was teased in October, as both Hayat and Singh share a video captioned, “Karampura Karachi connection baby. Something exclusive with the one and only Mehwish Hayat,” while dressed in their video costumes.
“Jatt Mekhma” is the second track in latest Singh’s album Glory. Wahab Bugti and Sahiban, two Pakistani musicians, are also featured on the album. Bugti along with Italian vocalist Laïoung featured on the song “Beeba,” while Sahiban and Handles had played a part in “Rap God.”
