Seven years after quitting Instagram following her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has returned to the platform with a brand-new personal account.
On January 1, Meghan posted a video on her new handle, @meghan, where she appeared in a white button-down shirt and white capri pants, running along the beach.
This new account marks her first solo Instagram profile since she deactivated her original one in January 2018. However, Meghan still shares the @sussexroyal account with her husband. In March 2024, she also launched a new Instagram page and website for her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which will feature products such as jams and cookbooks, though only limited details have been shared so far.

In her debut post on the new Instagram, the Duchess of Sussex was again dressed in white as she ran along the beach, wrote “2025” in the sand, and gave a quick glance at the camera before running off-screen.
As for why Meghan closed her social media accounts in 2018, a Kensington Palace spokesperson explained, “Ms. Markle is grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years. However, as she has not used them for some time, she has decided to close them.”
