There’s no gainsaying that Pakistan brims with potential waiting to be explored, especially in the field of cricket. Playing for the national cricket team is a dream for millions of kids on the streets of Pakistan, and a few brave souls ultimately set themselves on the long, rough journey to get selected for Pakistan’s domestic cricket team.
One such child is Wael Osmani, 11-year-old Hafiz-i-Quran, who is hoping to represent Pakistan on international level. The 11-year-old kid, who hails from Karachi, is a professional leg spinner, and he wants to be a national cricketer inspired by Shadab Khan.
MM News: Why did you choose cricket?
Wael Osmani: My brothers used to play cricket. I also played a lot of cricket in the back yard, the front driveway, the street, and on nasty cement pitches. I started my career with leg spinner.
MM News: From who are you inspired?
Wael Osmani: I loved watching Adil Rashid, Rashid Khan and Shadab Khan. These players inspired me to choose leg spin as a career. However, my inspiration is Pakistan’s all-rounder Shadab Khan.
MM News: Do you think it’s easy to be a leg spinner? And how long do you practice daily?
Wael Osmani: In my opinion, leg spin is not a difficult career. If you work a little harder, you can easily become a leg spinner. I practice every day for almost one hour because practice makes man perfect.
MM News: Tell us about your education?
Wael Osmani: I am studying in fifth grade at Hira Foundation School. Recently, during the holy month of Ramadan, I became Hafiz-e-Quran.
MM News: The best thing about PSL? And which team will win this year’s trophy?
Wael Osmani: The best think about this entertaining league is it is happening in Pakistan, which promotes the diverse culture of our country. I think this time Karachi Kings will be the winner of the league.
