A female student from Nishtar Medical University (NMU) in Multan was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted by two individuals, one of whom is reportedly a university employee.
According to initial police investigations, the student was taken to an undisclosed location where the assault occurred. The primary suspect is believed to be a staff member at NMU, while the second individual is said to be an acquaintance of the suspect.
Following widespread outrage, police conducted a raid and apprehended both suspects. A senior physician at NMU revealed that the victim is experiencing severe trauma. The incident has also led to considerable pressure from senior medical staff on the university administration to address the matter.
Earlier this week, a woman patient was reportedly raped by a security guard at a hospital in Rawalpindi, a garrison city in Pakistan.
According to local media, the Waris Khan police station registered a case based on the complaint filed by the alleged victim. The suspect, identified as Shahzaib, was arrested after Rawalpindi’s City Police Officer (CPO), Syed Khalid Hamdani, took notice of the incident. Police confirmed that the victim has undergone a medical examination and assured that the suspect will face charges based on concrete evidence and will be held accountable under the law.
CPO Hamdani said that any form of sexual violence, harassment, or assault against women is absolutely unacceptable and will be dealt with strictly.
