Amid the government’s claims of the lowest inflation in decades, the cost of meat and chicken has soared across Pakistan, with prices nearly doubling in some areas, straining household budgets ahead of Ramadan.
Broiler chicken prices have risen to around Rs750-790 per kilogram, up from Rs600-650 in previous weeks. Live chickens are now priced at Rs520 per kilogram, and the cost of eggs has increased by Rs2-5 per dozen, reaching Rs275.

In Karachi, chicken meat prices have exceeded Rs700 per kg, despite the official rate of Rs650 per kg. The price of live chicken has hit Rs500 per kg, adding to consumer concerns.
In Sialkot, chicken meat prices have jumped by Rs107 per kg, now selling at Rs700 per kg. Mutton prices have seen a significant rise, climbing from Rs1,800 to Rs2,700 per kg, while beef prices have surged from Rs800 to Rs1,200 per kg.
