Samar said, “I agree with Aina, I think, you have to explore yourself first and learn about yourself. Firstly, see yourself and your life and then think about settling down, also, forceful marriages are harmful and we have also addressed this in Mayi Ri.”
In the drama, Aina plays the character of school-going girl Annie who got married to Fakhir (Samar), who is also a school-going boy, and her cousin as well. This sparked controversy and social media users blamed the makers of ‘Mayi Ri’ for glorifying child marriage.
However, in an interview the teenage actress herself clarified that the basic intention towards it was to spread awareness among the masses. According to her the frankness between the two was because of their bond as cousins not because of the marriage.
As per Asif, the drama throws light on the pros and cons of child marriage.
