Maulana Fazlur Rehman said in a statement earlier this month that his demand was for a fair general election, adding that both the bills under consideration in Parliament on domestic violence and waqf property were against the constitution and law and the Quran and Sunnah.
“We are in favor of ending domestic violence, but the current law will destroy family life. The government imposed on us is illegitimate,” he said. Pakistan has become isolated in the world due to incompetent rulers. We will not allow legislation for a secular state, he asserted.
