Sindh government has decided to change the schedule of matriculation exams in the province due to Ramadan.
The exams that were scheduled in March will now be held after Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. The final decision will be taken in a meeting of the Education Department on Tuesday.
According to a private TV channel, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah has called an important meeting of the Executive Committee of the Education Department on Tuesday. A decision to change the date of matriculation exams across the province is expected in the meeting.
Syed Sardar Shah has said that only practicals be held in March, while consideration is being given to holding the remaining exams after Eid-ul-Fitr.
It should be noted that in May last year, the matriculation exams were postponed in Karachi, due to a heat wave.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had issued a heatwave alert in Sindh, after which, on the orders of the Minister for Education and Universities, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi postponed the matriculation examinations scheduled for May 21 to 27.
