KARACHI: Social media users rushed to some of the available platforms to inform and inquire about WhatsApp, a p0pular internet based message service, after seeing as ‘not responding’ for a few minutes.
Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages across the globe, showed a sharp spike in the number of users reporting WhatsApp’s outage, and some made fun of it.
And, some call the outage of WhatsApp as their moments of independence.
According to the graph provided by the Downdetector service, 99% users visiting their page were experiencing problems with WhatsApp.
Users from Pakistan, Turkey, UAE, Britain and elsewhere in the world reported the outage problem of WhatsApp.
It may be recalled that in October 2021, major social media services including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were hit by a massive outage, impacting potentially tens of millions of users.
There are some interesting facts about WhatsApp. It does not maintain any official outlets to update users on outages. Unlike the rest of Meta, it does not run an official status page, and it has a Twitter account intended to document problems but has not used it since 2014.
