Who is responsible for the terrible fire in Turkey?

Shahid Shahnawaz by Shahid Shahnawaz
March 24, 2022

The news of a disastrous fire in Turkey this week has shaken many countries of the world, including Pakistan.

The terrible fire that erupted in Turkey, a country with modern architecture, has caused massive loss of life and property. Social media users have reacted to the news of the fire in Turkey by saying that the fire was deliberately set on fire in provinces in the country. The question is if it is true then who started it? Let us consider different aspects of this question.

Fire in Turkey and loss of life and property

A fire on Turkey’s southern coast, one of the most important countries in Islamic history, has damaged thousands of acres of forests and populations. Four people were killed and more than 180 were injured in the blaze.

The fire, which started on July 27, spread to six provinces. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that more than 70 fire incidents have been reported in different parts of the country.

In this regard, Turkish media say that forest fires broke out in 44 different places in 21 provinces in Turkey during the last two days, out of which 23 fires were brought under control. Despite this, fires broke out in 21 areas, including Antalya and Ottoman. The Manavgat district of Antalya was the worst affected by the fire.

People from at least seven neighborhoods in the district have been forced to evacuate. Heavy machinery is still being used by the Turkish government to contain the fire.

Top trends on social media

Pakistani social media users have made ‘Turkey’ a top trend, expressing good wishes for a brotherly Islamic country and sharing various pictures of the fire in Turkey. In his message on Twitter, Sheikh Zulfiqar prayed that Allah Almighty protect the people of Turkey from fire.

Firefighting efforts and cooperation from other countries

The damage from the catastrophic fire has not yet been estimated. Thousands of firefighters, 45 helicopters, five planes, and more than 1,000 vehicles took part in the rescue operation.

The Turkish government is not alone in this. Ukraine, Russia, and Azerbaijan are also cooperating to put out the fire, which has strengthened the firefighting efforts.

People responsible for fire across Turkey

Simultaneous fires in many parts of Turkey are not uncommon. The Turkish government also suspected that the fire was not started but started, so the suspects are being interrogated.

Authorities say five people have been detained in connection with the blaze and will be questioned. The fires have caused temperatures to rise in several Turkish cities.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed solidarity with Turkey today and assured the Turkish government and nation of all possible cooperation in the hour of loss and distress caused by the massive fires across the country.
