All 14 education boards in Pakistan, including Rawalpindi Division, have raised examination fees for HSSC students, citing a severe financial crisis. The new fee-structure will take effect in 2025.
Private candidates will now pay a total fee of Rs. 5,000, and regular students will pay Rs. 4,800. Likewise, a base fee of Rs. 1,400 to the Arts students and Rs. 1,500 to the Science students will be charged in the regular category. Private Arts candidates will now pay Rs. 1,500, while private Science candidates will pay Rs. 1,600.
Besides, every student will need to pay an additional Rs. 1,000 of his or her registration, certificate issuance, and processing. An extra amount of Rs. 700 for the promotion, scholarship, and postal services will be collected. The students who join from other boards will need to pay Rs. 1,000 as extra No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Single fee submission deadline is November 27; while December 11 for double fee and December 24 for triple fee. However, there is the facility of late submission with a penalty of Rs. 200 per day till February 11, which will raise to Rs. 700 per day from February 12 to February 21, 2025.
The massive fee hike sparked widespread concern among parents, saying that rising fees might make education inaccessible to low-income families, and may force some students leave the education completely.
