LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has tested negative for COVID-19.
PML-N MPA Hina Parvez Butt confirmed in a Twitter statement that Maryam Nawaz’s test has been declared negative. She said Maryam is suffering from some infection and is getting treatment. Her political secretary Zeeshan Malik also confirmed that Maryam’s test result for the novel coronavirus was negative.
Earlier PML-N spokesperson Mariyum Aurangzeb had confirmed that Maryam Nawaz has fallen sick and has suspended all political activities.
She said Mariyum Nawaz is suffering from fever and throat ache while she has been advised complete rest by doctors. She further said Maryam Nawaz’s coronavirus test was conducted as a precautionary measure.
“The vice president has been unwell for a while now but she still went to the Lahore High Court for her hearing,” she said. Consequently, she said Maryam Nawaz has suspended all political activities for the next four days.
Maryam had appeared before he LHC on Wednesday for the hearing of her petition seeking pre-arrest bail in an illegal land acquisition case. She was granted bail and directed to appear before the investigating officer of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The anti-graft watchdog postponed Maryam’s appearance at its Lahore office on March 26 due to the spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman is also suffering from fever for the past two days, however, his COVID-19 test has come negative.
According to the JUI-F spokesman, the PDM head was not feeling well and had undergone a COVID-19 test after suffering from fever in the past two days. He said Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman tested negative for the virus and is currently staying at his residence in DI Khan.
The spokesman further said that the doctors have advised the JUI-F’s chief to stop all political activities and take complete rest. He said was tired from his hectic schedule and is currently taking a break from all activities
