Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has addressed recent media reports about her health, clarifying that she does not have throat cancer but has a condition related to her parathyroid gland.
Speaking at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) event in London with her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, she said that she had been in Geneva for medical tests but is cancer-free and expects to return to Pakistan within two days.
“I’ve been working tirelessly for eight months. I have a parathyroid issue, which can only be treated in Switzerland or America. I was in Geneva for check-ups,” she said, dismissing the cancer rumors.
Maryam added that she initially refrained from discussing her health publicly, but recent speculation compelled her to address the issue. She reassured supporters of her return to Pakistan soon.
At the same event, Nawaz Sharif praised his brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam for their efforts, expressing optimism about Pakistan’s future.
Maryam also highlighted Pakistan’s recent economic progress, noting record highs in the stock market and rising national reserves. “The world is watching Pakistan and wants to invest here. Every new day brings hope for prosperity,” she added.
