LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has demanded that an independent judicial commission should probe into former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s conviction.
While reacting to the death of former accountability judge Arshad Malik, Maryam in a Tweet, said, “Arshad Malik has passed away a year-and-a-half after his confessions and revelations. Who can be held responsible for the failure since one-and-a-half year to provide Nawaz Sharif justice?”
Maryam asked, “A three-time prime minister was declared an absconder, but why a judicial commission was not set up to look into this judicial conspiracy? Why we waited for the death of a person who was ready to tell all?”

The PML-N vice president further said that the former judge has gone where we all have to go one day. She said God had enabled him to “seek forgiveness from Nawaz Sharif” before leaving this world and to shed the burden (of his decision) from his conscience.
میرا سادہ سوال یہ ہے کہ انصاف کے قتل کی ذمہ داری کس پر ہے؟ اس سازش کا انکشاف اور اعتراف کرنے والا کردار اب اس دنیا میں نہیں۔ اب یہ مطالبہ زور پکڑے گا کہ آزاد اور بہادر ججوں پر مشتمل کمیشن اس کی تحقیقات کرے تاکہ عوام حقائق جان سکیں۔ اور وہ دن دور نہیں انشاءاللّہ یہ ہو کر رہے گا!

“He let it be known who had blackmailed him into declaring a false verdict and who had used him,” she added. Maryam Nawaz also said, “Now this demand will gain momentum that a commission consisting of independent and brave judges should investigate this so that people know the facts.”
