Gujranwala: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of using public resources for his rallies, saying that he will be held accountable for using taxpayers’ money for the rallies.
Maryam was speaking during a press conference along with the Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz in Gujranwala, ahead of the premier’s address to the nation in Islamabad.
She said that the real name of the inflation march should be Radul Fasad or Radul Shaitan march because such riots have not been seen in Pakistan in the last 75 years.
She said that PTI was using national resources for holing really in Islamabad today. “ It is the money of taxpayers, which you use for your rallies”, she added while addressing PM Imran Khan.
“Who gave you the right to hold meetings using government resources, it is not your family money, it is the hard-earned money of the people of Pakistan that you are wasting for rallies like this”
Criticizing the federal government, She said, “I think they want to take time by delaying the voting, knowing that no one would come to the rally.”
Maryam Nawaz said that I was told by DCs and commissioners that they were given the responsibility of bringing two hundred buses. “It is a matter of great shame that government resources are being used ruthlessly, if the same money was spent on flour, sugar, petrol, children’s education, health, people would get a relief today,” she asserted.
She also censured the PM for abusing the Opposition leaders and delaying the voting on the no-trust motion, adding that when the premier was held accountable for his misdoings related to the foreign funding case, he used “every means to save himself.”
Taking a jibe at PTI’s ongoing rally in Islamabad, where the party has claimed to gather more than one million people in support of PM Imran Khan, Maryam said: “Your rally is titled Amr-bil-Maroof (enjoining good). Is snatching bread, flour, electricity, and sugar from the masses called Amr-bil-Maroof?”
“Is misbehaving with people, and calling them names Amr-bil-Maroof?” she questioned.
Maryam also called the premier out for referring to Maulana Fazlur Rehman as “diesel” repeatedly and said: “Considering the rising pieces of diesel during Imran Khan’s tenure, he should, indeed, be labeled diesel instead.”
Favoring her uncle and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, Maryam said that he is “a thousand times better than Imran Khan”.
“How can you compare yourself with Shahbaz? When there were floods in Pakistan, he used to visit places while submerged knee-deep in the stagnant water,” she said.
She also talked about the disgruntled PTI MNAs who had decided to jump ships ahead of the no-confidence motion against the premier.
“Your own party members do not trust you, which has resulted in the no-confidence motion,” Maram said. “Your party has broken up and your companions who used to run your kitchen have lost trust in you.”
