In a shocking case of domestic violence, a man threw acid on his wife and two sons following a quarrel in Multan’s Jalilabad district on Sunday. The incident came to light on Monday.
Acid attacks remain a significant issue in Pakistan, particularly targeting women. According to the Pulitzer Center, between 2007 and 2018, there were 1,485 reported cases, often linked to personal disputes, rejected marriage proposals, or dowry conflicts.
A first information report (FIR) was filed on Monday by Farhan Ikhlaq, the victim’s brother. Ikhlaq said in the FIR that he received a call from his grandson informing him that someone had thrown acid on his sister, Khadija Bano, and her two sons.

Rushing to the scene with his brother, Nasir Iqbal, Ikhlaq found Khadija’s face severely burned. A woman present was pouring water on Khadija as both women suffered in pain. The woman then helped Khadija change her clothes, while Ikhlaq and his brother assisted Khadija’s sons.
The two children informed Ikhlaq that their stepfather, Muhammad Majid, had thrown acid on them before fleeing the house. Ikhlaq immediately contacted the police and Rescue 1122, who arrived at the scene and transported the victims to the hospital for treatment.

According to the FIR, Majid frequently argued with Khadija and wanted to return to his first wife while seeking a divorce from Khadija. “That is why he threw acid on Khadija and her sons and committed this injustice. Legal action should be taken against him,” Ikhlaq said.
