KARACHI: An enraged citizen set his motorcycle on fire outside the Karachi Press Club to protest against the police’s high-handedness.
The young man, who is the rider of an online company, set his bike ablaze to protest against the Ferere police’s attitude.
The man held a quarrel Saddar with some other people and called the police helpline. However, police reached the scene and instead tortured him.
The young man said the police thrashed him and also took away his money from him. He said police also confiscated his bike’s documents and mobile phone.
He said police also accused him of being drunk while driving. He said that he went to the police station and complained but no action was taken.
Frustrated with the police, the citizen came to the press club and set fire to his bike in protest. He said that his job was related to his motorcycle.
SSP South has taken notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry. Police said the citizen had a quarrel near Cantt Station shortly before calling the police helpline.
