KARACHI: A man in Karachi’s Clifton area has shot and killed his sister for honour today (Saturday), police officials confirmed.
According to details, the district police have arrested the suspect, Hasnain Qamar, who has confessed to killing his sister, Noorul Huda Shah. The police also recovered the weapon used in the crime from his possession.
The police have also shifted the deceased girl to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Officials informed that the girl had received a bullet to the head.
Police officials informed that the arrested suspected, during the initial investigation, revealed that he was a sub-inspector in the Land Department of District Municipal Corporation South.
The arrested suspected further informed that the weapon he used belonged to his late father, who used to work as a director in the same department. “My sister used to talk to a man in the neighbourhood, I had stopped her time and again,” he claimed.
Hasnain Qamar claimed that when his younger brother told him about their sister’s constant interactions with the boy, he shot and killed her sister.
Earlier on Friday, a man and his wife were stabbed to death in a house in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Latif area in what police described as an act of so-called honour killing.
According to the police, the couple — Mir Hassan, and Shabana — got married as per their free will and shifted to Awami Colony in Gulshan-e-Latif area.
