Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao has opened up about the pressure of looking good all the time due to media scrutiny.
Rao’s statement comes days after his picture went viral on social media which led to brutal trolling online and a hint that he might have opted for plastic surgery.
In an interview with Film Companion, Rao talked about the idea that the pressure to look good is as high for male actors as it is for female actors.
He said, “It’s the same. I don’t think it’s any different. Maybe not so bad that they talk about your chappals. But it happened to me recently, so I know.”
According to him, one wrong angle, one wrong picture, one wrong moment captured, and people would just talk about it for no reason.
He also touched upon the emergence of paparazzi culture due to which celebrities are always expected to look good even at the airport. He called the trend ‘weird’.
He further stated, “But also I would say, our paps are very very sweet. If you tell them not to click pictures, they understand. But still, you never know. The pressure is there, I wouldn’t deny that.”
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao will be next seen in his latest film ‘Srikanth’. The movie is based on the life of Srikanth Bolla, an industrious figure who triumphed over adversity to achieve success despite visual impairment.
The biopic drama will release in the theaters on May 10, 2024Apart from him, the movie will feature Jyothika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar in significant roles.
