KARACHI: The psychology department of Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) will induct two new courses of Behavioral Economics and Human Interaction and Ethical Practices in the plan of study of BS-Psychology degree program after the approval of Academic Council of the university.
This was decided during the Board of Study (BOD) of Psychology department online meeting held under the chairmanship of the head of the department Maryam Hanif Ghazi.
Addressing the online session Maryam Hanif Ghazi said that today the pandemic situation has compelled everyone to ponder on psychological issues more seriously. She said that it has taught the world how much psychology is important and need to produce more ethical and expert psychologist who can bring the world out of trauma.
Maryam Hanif Ghazi said that the present situation tells us how much the BS-Psychology study program is important. She said that BS-Psychology degree program is based on learning outcome and have been designed in the line with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) requirement.
Ghazi maintained that the students can choose any of the three majors offered i.e. Clinical, Industrial, and Education Psychology. She said that the students will also be required to complete an internship within the domain of the chosen majors.
During the meeting expert, Dr. Tehzeeb recommended organizing the plan of study in a manner that pre-requisite courses are offered to ensure students follow the road map. She also recommended that students should also be introduced to Journal formatting, a recent development to the subject.
