ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday achieved ‘another major milestone’ in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic after 100 million people were partially inoculated, said National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) head Asad Umar.
Taking to Twitter, the Planning and Development Minister said: “Of these nearly 75 million are fully vaccinated,” adding that the ‘work was not complete yet’.

Earlier, Planning Minister Umar reiterated his call on all the provinces to follow the non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) and the obligatory regime in letter and spirits in order to curtail the spread of the fifth wave of Covid-19.
Umar told the prize distribution ceremony that the people who had not been vaccinated so far must get the shots as soon as possible, while those fully vaccinated six months ago, should go for a booster dose.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity ratio over 3%
Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity ratio remained over 3% for the third straight day, as COVID-19’s Omicron variant continues to spread across the country and push infection rates.
The National Command and Operations Centre’s (NCOC) on Tuesday morning data showed that 1,467 cases were reported from across the country after 43,540 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. This took the positivity ratio to 3.33%.
The detection of new cases moved overall infections past 1.307 million, while two more deaths were reported that bumped the death toll to 28,974, NCOC’s website showed.
