KARACHI: A judicial magistrate conducted a raid at a police station in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and released four policemen who were held in lock-up.
Judicial Magistrate East’s staff said the police had not recorded any entry of the policemen’s arrest. The police personnel were released from illegal confinement on the directives of Superintendent Police Gulshan.
SHO Gulistan-e-Jauhar Inayat Marwat said the personnel belonged to Anti-Street Crime Squad and were arrested a few hours earlier after receiving complaints that they were involved in looting citizens.
The SHO said the case has been lodged against them but constables Babar Munir, Waseem Jamali, Asif Khan and Muhammad Kashif have been released on the directives of the judge.
The four policemen were confined to the police station after being taken into custody after which the judicial magistrate freed them after receiving a tip-off. The weapons of the policemen are still present at the police station.
