MADINAH: Staff speaking Arabic, English, Urdu, Indonesian, Persian, and Turkish have been employed at the Inquire about Madinah center to help visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque.
Operating around the clock, the Madinah Centre delivers information on transportation, significant landmarks in the holy city, and provides support for the elderly and individuals with disabilities, including emergency assistance. This initiative is a crucial component of the broader strategy aimed at promoting tourism in the country, with the ambitious target of attracting 100 million tourists by 2030.
As part of this tourism push, Saudi Arabia has recently extended invitations to 1,000 distinguished Muslim figures to undertake Umrah, emphasizing inclusivity and encouraging individuals from diverse backgrounds to explore the religious and cultural significance of the holy cities.
In order to ensure high-quality accommodation for visitors, the Saudi government has implemented measures to regulate the hospitality sector. Notably, 330 hotels and furnished apartments in Makkah and Madinah were recently closed due to violations of rules and regulations in the holy cities.
These initiatives are in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a comprehensive plan that aims to diversify the economy away from oil dependence and stimulate the tourism sector. By improving communication and services, the country seeks to create a hospitable environment for visitors and achieve its ambitious tourism goals in the coming years. In summary, Saudi Arabia addresses language barriers through the deployment of a multilingual team in Madinah, offering assistance in six languages to visitors.
