Female elephant Madhubala has been sent from Karachi Zoo to Safari Park in a special container on Tuesday.
Madhubala was sent under the protection of police, Rangers, and city wardens and the supervision of Dr Amir Khalili of Four Paws.
Madhubala will be kept in Safari Park with friends Sonu and Malika.
The date of Madhubala’s transfer was decided two months ago.
The process of transferring Madhubala to the custody of Rangers, Police, and wardens was completed. In this regard, a route map was prepared a day ago. Traffic police facilitated the route during the transfer.
Karachi Safari Park opened in 1970, is a publicly funded ‘family-only’ safari park covering an area of 148 acres, located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. It has a zoo, geared with viewing facilities like a chairlift and safari tracks, as well as two natural lakes.
The incumbent city government is giving full attention to the park to develop it more and more.
